The Ohio State Buckskin Association was created as a charter organization of the International Buckskin Horse Association in 1988. Since that time, our mission has remained the same: to preserve and promote the ownership, breeding and competition of Buckskin, Dun, Red Dun and Grulla horses in Ohio and throughout the Midwest.
OSBA meets its mission by providing:
• IBHA-approved shows
• a year-end awards program
• annual youth activities such as youth team tournaments and World Show teams
• an annual queen contest, the winner of which represents our state at the Miss Buckskin World competition
• a unique trail riding program
The Ohio State Buckskin Association consists of people just like you who share a passion for the Buckskin, Dun and Grulla horse. Our management operates solely through volunteers who give their time and resources to further our mission.
We pride ourselves on not only having “horses of a different color,” but also on providing a fun, family-friendly atmosphere at our events. You’ll find that our members share in your successes as well as your losses. We want to see everyone succeed with our beautiful Buckskin, Dun and Grulla horses.
OSBA has traditionally been a very active chapter at the national level. OSBA members and their horses have won numerous IBHA Honor Roll, Register of Merit, Superior, Versatility and World Champion titles in Open, Amateur and Youth divisions. In addition, Ohio boasts several Miss Buckskin World crown winners. OSBA members have also been active as IBHA-approved judges, IBHA committee members and officers.
When IBHA created an alliance agreement with the American Quarter Horse Association in 2002, OSBA followed suit and established an alliance agreement with the Ohio Quarter Horse Association. OSBA is recognized as an alliance organization by OQHA, reporting its activities at OQHA board meetings.
If you are not currently an OSBA member, we invite you to join us! Membership applications are available here.
